AI saved me this week. It had answers no one could give me when I needed them. AI answers are not are standard of care answers and that’s a problem. The attorneys didn’t have answers for me because it’s a first time encounter to them. I felt and still feel unprotected with no professional answers to my questions that AI is raising for me and also answering for me at the same time.
We have barely scratched the surface of the future concerns we will have as dental professional. AI changes are rapid, there’s a gap how do we protect ourselves from legal and malpractice standpoint. We need answers.
purpose: establishment of standard of care, liability, malpractice protection, peer ship of role and liability check and balance quality check.
Questions raised and what thoughts are
-Is the system is built for preventive/cure or for moving forward with medical treatment?
1. What is the current standard of care
2. What is the ideal standard of care
3. What standards are each based on/from of standard (s)
Which standard if different do you think is best? What is this based on and why?
4. Standard of care regarding of liability: who is liable for what? Institutions, schools, hospitals, software companies, doctors, patients, others?
5. The strategy of AI in healthcare? Think of thresholds, purpose behind and mission
6. Healthcare providers: financial burden increasing and mental burn out—> why? What’s the reason behind this? Trends/patterns of financial responsibility and mental health of healthcare providers patterns within the last 1,000 years? What are these trends? Reason behind trends patterns if any?
7. And my question behind all of this: is AI a means to help or hurt healthcare providers? Is it temporary relief for healthcare providers or short term dopamine? What is the mission of AI as a long term goal?
8. Who implements AI, companies, what type of ownership/business, partnerships, who determines thresholds or standards? How often does this change? Who leads and makes these decisions that most if not all end up following?
9. Do healthcare providers across the board have the ability to choose whether to use AI during diagnosis or evaluate thresholds AI set, calibration standards, positioning standards? Can they modify?
10. Who came up with AI standards used on a basis of diagnosis? Who came up with these? How did they come up with them? What standards should AI standards be based on and who should decide them? Does ownership of software or service providing AI affect AI outcomes? What would differences in AI be based on different owners providing service?
