AI should never substitute a human nurse’s judgment. I recently learned that northwestern medicine is cutting all pre admissions testing RNs and replacing them with AI. As a periop RN, this scares me. AI cannot critically think…it’s all black and white and PREPROGRAMMED! This is an unsafe practice that is being forced on the unsuspecting public. I cannot understand how anyone can think this is a good idea! And let’s be real, the rule that a human must verify the AI findings and recommendations isn’t going to work. Reading a report on a patient vs actually speaking to the patient paints different pictures.
