Bedside clinicians are often the first to notice when a tool’s behavior drifts, for example after a vendor model update. Today, most have no clear channel to report it, and no feedback on whether anything changed. Sample-based clinician review is valuable, but it should include nurses and NPs, not only physicians or informatics staff.
I also urge FDA to keep manufacturer accountability clear. Shared responsibility with institutions and clinicians must not become a way to shift liability onto frontline staff who had no role in designing, validating or updating the device.
